Registering Your Gaming Console For Use With ResNet

Listed below are the steps to register your gaming device for use on Resnet.  Currently, only gaming devices that support a wired connection can be used on Resnet.  If you intend to only use wireless or if using a handheld device that does not support a wired connection, you may connect that device to the SMCM-Guest network which does not require registration.  For all other gaming device please use the recommended method below.

NOTE: Xbox One/360 can only be registered using the recommended method.

Using a laptop or computer that has already been registered and is currently connected to Resnet (either Wired or Wireless) please go to the following website and follow the on-screen instructions to register your device. Your computer must be connected to ResNet in order to access this webpage.

NOTE: For Wii and Wii U, IF you have a LAN adapter and wish to use Resnet, enter the MAC address for the LAN Adapter NOT the Wii/Wii U's MAC address.

PS4 Alternate Method

  1. This process must be done over a wired connection.  Please make sure your PS4 is connected to the jack in your room with an Ethernet cord.
  2. Select Network Settings under the Settings section.
  3. Ensure that Connect to the Internet has a check mark in the box.
  4. Select Set Up Internet Connection.
  5. Select Use a LAN Cable.
  6. Select Easy.
  7. Press X to Test Connection.
  8. You will see that Obtain IP Address will Succeed, Internet Connection will Succeed, and PSN Sign In will Fail. Press O to go Back.
  9. Select View Connection Status.
  10. Ensure that your IP Address begins with 10.10.x.x. Press O to go Back.
  11. Select Internet Browser under the Network section.
  12. You should now be brought to the registration page. Click the Users who have a Network account link.
  13. Log in with your SMCM network username and password (this is the same username and password you use to access the portal). Click Download.
  14. A window may pop up during the countdown that says “A LAN Cable is not connected” ignore this. When the countdown finishes a window might pop up that says, “Your network connection has been reconfigured. Please restart your computer and reopen your browser.” Select OK. Note: You don’t have to restart your PS4 just close the browser.
  15. Select Network Settings under the Settings section.  Select View Connection Status.
  16. Ensure that your IP Address begins with 10.30.x.x. Press O to go Back.
  17. Select Internet Browser under the Network section.
  18. You will be directed to a page stating you are in remediation and that you will be directed to instructions.  You should then be redirected to a page with a countdown.  A window may pop up during the countdown that says “A LAN Cable is not connected” ignore this. When the countdown finishes a window might pop up that says, “Your network connection has been reconfigured. Please restart your computer and reopen your browser.” Select OK. Note: You don’t have to restart your PS4 just close the browser.
  19. Select Network Settings under the Settings section.  Select View Connection Status.
  20. Ensure that your IP Address begins with 138.78.x.x. Press O to go Back.
  21. Congratulations, your PS4 is now registered!

PS3 Alternate Method

  1. This process must be done over a wired connection.  Please make sure your PS3 is connected to the jack in your room with an Ethernet cord.
  2. Select Network Settings under the Settings section.
  3. Ensure that the Internet Connection is Enabled.
  4. Select Internet Connection Settings.
  5. Select OKon the screen that says "Adjust settings for connection to the internet.  If making a wire connection your must have an Ethernet cable connected."
  6. Select Easy method.
  7. Press X to save settings.
  8. Press X to Test Connection.
  9. You will see that the Obtain IP Address will Succeed and Internet Connection will Fail. Press O to go Back.
  10. Select Settings and Connection Status List.
  11. Ensure that your IP Address begins with 10.10.x.x. Press O to go Back.
  12. Select Internet Browser under the Network section.
