Mapping a Network Drive to your Computer

In order to access your network drives, you will need two things: permission to access the folders, and the folder mapped to your computer.  This article explains how to map the folder to your computer.

If you need to request permission, or cannot see the folder when going through these instructions, please Create a Ticket.

If you use your SMCM network credentials to log into your device, and you are connected to the SMCM network, your drives should automatically be mapped to the device. If they do not automatically map to your device, please Create a Ticket. If you use a "local account" to log into the device, your drives may need to be manually mapped using the instructions below.

In order to manually map a drive on a PC running Windows 10, use the appropriate Drive Address from the table below.

In the search bar, type in "Map Network Drive".  The Best match listed on the top will be This PC.  RIGHT CLICK on this PC and select Map Network Drive.

In order to map a network drive using a Mac with a local account:

In the Finder  view, click Go.

  1. Select Connect to Server from the drop down menu.
  2. In the Server Address space, type the file path (please refer to the section below on Drive Addresses for specific drive paths).
  3. Click the to add the address to your list of Favorite Servers.
  4. Click Connect.
  5. Authenticate, by signing in with your SMCM network credentials.

Drive Addresses

Pick the address that corresponds with your role at SMCM, and the permissions you may have.  (For example, Staff would usually use staffshares).  If you do not have access to a particular drive, but your position requires it, please submit a ticket.

***You must know the appropriate name for your department or office folder to complete the path for H: or I: drives. If you need assistance determining the correct folder for these drives, please contact the IT Support Center.
